Employment

Working at Worawa means contributing to a culturally grounded education setting where Aboriginal governance and decision making are central.

We employ staff across boarding, teaching, and corporate roles. All positions require a strong commitment to student wellbeing, child safety, and respectful relationships with Aboriginal students and communities.

Boarding roles involve the day to day care and supervision of students and include shift work across afternoons, evenings, and weekends. These roles support a safe and consistent residential environment.

All staff are expected to:

  • uphold Worawa’s values and cultural framework
  • work collaboratively and contribute to daily operations
  • meet all child safety and compliance requirements

Current vacancies are advertised as they arise. Applications should include a resume and a brief cover letter.

Volunteer opportunities

Volunteers support students in practical and meaningful ways within a structured and supervised environment.

Opportunities may include:

  • classroom support
  • mentoring and engagement
  • cultural programs and activities
  • camps, excursions, and events

Volunteers are matched to areas of need and work under the guidance of staff. All roles are subject to supervision capacity and alignment with College programs.

A current Working with Children Check is required. First aid and a driver licence are beneficial but not essential.

We encourage expressions of interest from people who are committed to working in a culturally safe environment.

Student placements

Worawa offers supervised placement opportunities for students undertaking study in community services, youth work, social science, and related fields.

Placements provide practical experience in a residential school setting, with a focus on student wellbeing, program delivery, and daily operations.

Participants are supported by staff and gain experience working within a culturally grounded model of education.

To be eligible, applicants must hold:

  • a current Working with Children Check
  • a current Police Check

Accommodation may be available for those travelling from outside the local area.
